It is the natural landing spot after a day of meetings, whether you are celebrating a signed deal or just glad the day is over. 

In the mood for something cold and local? Steel & Oak Brewery is a quick stroll away and pours the kind of local beer that makes a networking dinner feel like a night off. If pub fare is more your speed, Kelly O’Bryan’s is just as close and comes with a side of Irish charm. Either way, the laptop stays closed, and the dress code stays the same: just casual, no business.

Trade Your Commute for a Riverside Stroll 

Skip the traffic and transit transfers. After your last meeting wraps, walk it off along the Quay Boardwalk instead, where the water moves slowly, and no one is in a hurry. It’s the easiest reset in New Westminster, and it’s right outside your door. 

If you’ve got a bit more time, wander over to Westminster Pier Park. Grab a gelato at the River Market first or just show up as you are. Either way, find a bench, watch the boats go by, and let your brain finally stop running through the day’s calls.

Swing by the New West Farmers Market if your trip lines up with market day, where local vendors and fresh produce make for a much better break than another vending machine snack. Grab something to eat, chat with a vendor, and remember that not every part of a business trip has to feel transactional. 

If you find yourself with a little time to spare, let the evening stretch a little longer than planned. Take the scenic route back to the hotel or sit on the patio for one more drink than you budgeted for. Business travel doesn’t have to end the moment the meetings do, and in New Westminster, there’s no reason it should.
